‘Public Should Be Mindful Of Anxiety Levels Among Matrics’ – WCED

Education MEC Debbie Schaffer has urged the public to be mindful of the anxiety levels of this year’s matric class.

She notes that they have had a particularly stressful year and a half, as the Covid-19 pandemic had affected their schooling since they were in Grade 11.

The MEC was speaking as October marks World Mental Health Awareness Month. The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has urged all matrics who are struggling to cope with the emotional stresses that come with final exams, to reach out to a friend, teacher, loved one, or a professional for assistance.

The final exams will begin on October 27.
