‘Mkhize is Cooperating on Digital Vibes’ – President Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa says that Minister Zweli Mkhize is cooperating fully on the investigations into the Digital Vibes scandal.

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) is probing allegations involving two of the health minister’s close associates and a R150 million, irregular contract between the company and the Department of Health.

Minister Mkhize has been a key figure in the country’s fight against Covid-19 and if found guilty of corruption, may have a destabilizing effect on South Africa’s handling of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the step-aside rule for those implicated in corruption has also been implemented within the ANC, which adds further headaches for the governing party.

President Ramaphosa says that the process must take its course, after which he would know what needs to be done.
