South Africa is technically in a third wave. This is the sentiment shared by the Executive Director for the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) Professor Adrian Puren.
Yesterday, South Africa recorded the highest numbers of new Covid-19 infections in more than four months. Puren says the situation in the country can be described as a third wave because the entire country has reached the threshold. In the last 24-hour period, more than 5780 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded.
