The World Health Organisation (WHO) has raised concern over the six percent increase in
covid-19 cases in South Africa in the last week. This, as the country, phased into level one of
the covid-19 lockdown. The increase comes as Africa experiences an overall decline in
infections. When announcing the downgrade, President Cyril Ramaphosa warned of a potential
second wave. South Africa now has almost 669 500 recorded cases. That is a 969 increase
from the previous day. The recovery rate stands at 89,9 percent. The Health Department says it
will closely monitor the small increase.
