Brazil is taking a different track from its BRICS counterparts, seeking a stronger presence at the G20.

While the world has been significantly impacted by Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, there is concern that Moscow’s presence in BRICS may prove a diplomatic challenge at the Group of 20 meeting.

This contention is backed up by Associate Professor in International Relations at Wits University, Rod Alence.

He says that India is pushing for reforms within existing systems, while China and Russia are emphasizing multi-polarity.
