Steinhoff gets a R190m slap on the wrist

Germany’s financial regulator BaFin has fined Steinhoff R191-million for breaching financial regulations five years ago.

Steinhoff was fined for submitting late filings, and failing to publish voting rights notifications.

However, the fines don’t mention the group’s former CEO, Markus Jooste, who has been charged by authorities in Germany with balance sheet fraud.
