Security guard critically wounded in failed money heist

A security guard has been critically wounded during a foiled cash in transit heist at the Colorado Shopping Centre in Mitchell’s Plain. It’s alleged a gang of males accosted the crew of the cash transporting company SBV after they loaded money into their van. A scuffle broke out with the security guard being shot and injured. At least three suspects were arrested with the aid of community members.
A 9mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition was recovered. Police say a manhunt is underway for the remaining criminals. The suspects face charges of attempted murder, CIT robbery, and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
Meanwhile, police have commended the community for playing their part and making a citizen’s arrest. It says this is an example of how communities play a pivotal role in assisting law enforcement in fighting crime.
