SADTU: “Lend Support to our Matric Learners”

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) has appealed to communities to lend their support to matric learners writing their National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. During this period of their schooling career, many students undergo immense stress and anxiety. In addition to the academic pressure, learners on the Cape Flats need to contend with their safety being compromised due to gang violence plaguing their communities.

Manenberg and Hanover Park are some of the areas where learners expressed fear of being caught in gang-cross fire while on their way to school. SADTU’s Nomusa Cembi says the union is aware of the concerns and has urged communities to step in so that learners can focus and write in peace.
