President Cyril Ramaphosa has cast his vote in Chiawelo in Soweto.

Addressing the media, Ramaphosa urged all South Africans to exercise their right to vote. The president says that as a country, it ought to be very proud of the progress of democracy and citizen’s role in improving it.

Ramphosa adds that citizens have a reason to complain, and that through voting they are raising their complaints or their support to people they believe would make a difference.

President Ramaphosa has also wished all contesting parties well for the elections.

Voters have been reminded that voting stations close at 9pm this evening.
