More City Law Enforcement officers will be deployed to Jakes Gerwel Drive as smash-and-grab cases are again on the rise. Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith says the fact the victims are being discouraged from laying charges after a smash-and-grab is problematic. Smith says from last year to the beginning of this year, smash-and-grab incidents decreased and the City was able to suppress the group behind these criminal attacks. However, since July the numbers started to climb again.
