Former Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku is going to court to have the findings against him by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) set aside. Premier David Makhura had announced that he had dismissed Masuku. The SIU found that Masuku failed to execute his functions in compliance with the Constitution and Public Finance Management Act following covid-19 PPE fraud. However, Masuku maintains that the preliminary findings by the SIU are incorrect when referring to his role as an executive authority. He has gone on to accuse the Investigating Unit of making no mention of some facts provided.
