Judges Jody Kollapen and Steve Mathopo have been appointed to the Constitutional Court.

It follows months of nominations and assessments.

President Cyril Ramaphosa had consulted with the acting Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo and leaders of the parties represented in the National Assembly before making the appointments.

Kollapen had served as a judge of the Gauteng Division from 2010 after serving as a member and later chairperson of the South African Human Rights Commission.

This as Mathopo had also served as a judge in the Gauteng Division of the High Court since 2006.

Nine years later, he was elevated to the Supreme Court of Appeal.
