The 26-year-old man arrested in connection with Friday night’s mass shooting in Mitchell’s Plain allegedly belongs to a gang.

Three people including two teenagers were killed and two other teens were injured when suspects entered a house in Poppy Street and opened fire.

The Lentegeur Community Police Forum chairperson Byron de Villiers says it’s unclear who the intended target was, but they understand innocent bystanders were among those killed.

He says the situation remains tense in the area and the local police station has put measures in place to prevent a retaliation.

Police are still searching for two other suspects.
