In Cape Town, the 5th November is infamously marked as Guy Fawkes. However, the scenes that play out on this day and days after are not always pleasant. The youth would generally burst fireworks and ‘smeer’ people walking by or in their neighbourhood.

Over the years, the practice of Guy Fawkes has only become more dangerous. The City has indicated that the bursting of fireworks in public spaces will no longer be allowed. Joining us now is the Mayco Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith…
