The Department of Basic Education along with the Health Department is in the process of establishing isolation rooms at schools across the country to allow positive Covid-19 matric learners to still write their exams.

This year, more than one million learners will write their final exams. This is the largest group to every sit for the final matric examination. Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga says although 2020 has been a tough year in dealing with the disruptions caused by Covid-19, she emphasised that she remains optimistic that the class of 2020 will pull through.
