Former Eskom CEO: What went wrong

Eskom’s poor financial management was once again highlighted in Parliament.

An independent audit found that the utility is still R152-billion in debt. It also found that the Eskom board had failed in its fiduciary duty to ensure the utility did business with a reputable supplier.

And just hours later, Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter updated the public on its work to end load shedding. Units at Matimba and Majuba are back online adding some 800 MW to the grid. But how did Eskom get here?
