An 82-year-old man has been killed in a shooting in Eureka, Ravensmead.

Police say a 62-year-old man narrowly escaped death in the same incident.

Responding to the crime police say officers spotted an armed man jumping into a taxi. The vehicle was stopped and the person of interest removed.

Officers found a 9mm pistol with ammunition on the 21-year-old suspect. He faces charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

He is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court once charged.
