The Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre has reacted with shock to a circular issued by the Health Department, that stipulates only ECD practitioners and staff registered with the Department of Social Development would be eligible for Covid-19 vaccinations in the next roll-out phase. The sector sees this as another blow after being excluded as teaching staff in the current vaccine roll-out. Only teachers and education staff registered under the Department of Basic Education were considered. Where does this leave the ECD sector?
