The Proteas under-19 captain David Teeger does not represent South Africa’s values in terms of sportsmanship, peace and harmony. Pro-Palestinian activists have slammed Cricket South Africa (CSA) for appointing Teeger to captain the national team in the upcoming world cup, despite his public support for the genocidal Israeli regime.

Yesterday, a group of Palestinian activists held a demonstration outside of Newlands Cricket Stadium to voice their outrage at the cricket body’s decision, knowing full well the sensitivity around the Palestinian cause.

Protest organizer, Professor Usuf Chikte has also questioned the double standards of the Chairperson of Cricket SA, Lawson Naidoo, who is also a senior member of the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (Casac) in clearing Teeger from all wrongdoing following his sentiments in support of an Apartheid state.
