Blue Downs and its surrounding areas have been left with little to no water due to a damaged pipeline.

According to the City it was expected to restore the water supply last night but this could not happen as the damage is worse and requires additional work.

It says while replacing the 650mm pipeline it was found that the high pressure water leak had damaged the flange adaptor that connects the two different pipes. A fitting needs to be manufactured to secure the new pipeline to the existing network causing the delay.

The water supply is expected to be gradually restored as of this evening around eight. In the interim at least five water tankers have been deployed with the municipality saying they will be rotated to as many communities as possible. These locations will be communicated by the councillors. Schools and other vulnerable groups are being prioritised.
