The DA is sticking to a script in the wake of the allegations of sexual assault levelled against the now suspended Western Cape Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz.

Like Premier Alan Winde they have refused to divulge any details about the nature of the allegations claiming that it’s not to hinder an independent investigation and that the complainant had asked for confidentiality.

However online publication News24 reports that senior officials in the ministry had been aware of the allegations since August last year. At least four senior officials have reportedly been suspended. They are accused of procuring and grooming the young women for Fritz.

Fritz has stepped down as the DA’s provincial leader until the completion of the investigation which was commissioned by the premier. The party has indicated that it’s effectively taking a back seat on this matter.
