The state has opposed bail for a man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death.

Kimberley police spokesperson Lietenant Colonel Sergio Kock says Aldean Wilkinson stabbed his then 28-year-old expecting girlfriend in the neck following an altercation.

The dispute occurred on the deceased’s son’s ninth birthday. It’s understood that Wilkinson stabbed the woman in front of his mother.

He then handed himself over to the police the next day.

Wilkinson appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court were bail was opposed.
