Former President Jacob Zuma is set to find out whether he must return to prison or not.

The Acting Correctional Services Commissioner, Makgothi Thobakgale is expected to announce his decision today. It comes as both the High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) have left it up to the commissioner to decide if the time Zuma spent on medical parole counts as time served. This despite the courts having found that medical parole granted by then Correctional Services Commissioner, Arthur Fraser was unlawful.

Zuma was released on medical parole just two months into his jail sentence.

The Constitutional Court had sentenced Zuma to 15 months behind bars for contempt after he flouted its previous order to appear before the State Capture Commission of Inquiry.
