Women make up majority of Western Cape registered voters

The certified voters roll for the 2024 National and Provincial elections stands at more than three million in the Western Cape. The IEC’s Provincial Electoral Officer Michael Hendrikse says the province has made great strides in increasing its eligible voters.

According to the gender breakdown there are more females registered than males. Women make up over 1.8 million.

Meanwhile the age group 40-49 is leading the demographic of registered voters in the province, making up over 738 000 people.

The IEC says the Western Cape has shown a whopping 77,9% increase in registered voters since 1999. Hendrickse further notes that the Western Cape is steadily working its way to becoming one of the top three provinces with the highest registered voters.
