Good luck to the matric class of 2026 as the National Senior Certificate exams commence this morning with Computer Applications Technology Practical. The exams will run until November 25th. In the Western Cape, over 85 100 candidates will be sitting for the exams.

More than 71 000 of them are full-time learners, while the others are part-time and repeat NSC candidates. The Provincial Education MEC Jaco Londt is hopeful that this year’s class will improve on the matric results of 2025. The Western Cape achieved a pass rate of 88.2%.

“Thank you to the parents and guardians who have been supporting the matriculants in their household. This is a stressful time for your children, so they need all your love, care, and support right now.

I want to ask communities to also work with us to ensure a calm and peaceful environment for our matriculants. They have worked hard to get to this moment and deserve all our support!

To the matriculants: It is now the final stretch. For the next couple of weeks, please remain focused.”
