A 30-year-old woman has been arrested for her alleged links to human trafficking. The Hawks team based in George and Bellville respectively, cracked down on the suspect on Monday after a warrant of arrest was issued against her.
In August, the Hawks along with Department of Home Affairs officials conducted a search at an identified brothel in Rondebosch.
At the time, a 21-year-old female was found in the flat working as a sex worker. Further investigations revealed that she was a victim of trafficking and was rescued by the team.
The person who was alleged to have trafficked the victim was identified and arrested.
On the 21st September 2026, Philip Udogwu appeared in Wynberg Magistrates Court and remains in custody awaiting his formal bail application.
It was further established that Udogwu had an accomplice who worked with him to groom the victim into a sex worker.
The 30-year-old suspect is set to make her first appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
