There has been yet another taxi-related murder in Cape Town. The body of the general secretary of the taxi association Codeta, Mzoxolo Dibela has been found on the road at Monwabisi beach near Khayelitsha. He had gunshot wounds to the head.

Dibela was also the Deputy Chairperson of the National Taxi Council (Santaco) in the Western Cape.

Transport MEC Daylin Mitchell says he is saddened by the tragic passing. The MEC says he had closely worked with Dibela in dealing with the challenges facing the taxi industry. Dibela was part of the delegations attempting to establish peace between rival associations CATA and CODETA over the B97 route. The taxi boss was also involved in the MyCiTi N2 Express bus route from Mitchells Plain to Khayelitsha.

Mitchell has called on the police to find Dibela’s killers and bring them to book as soon as possible.
