Ban imposed on Garden Route to curtail Covid-19 spread

A ban has been imposed on public events in the Garden Route region in an effort to curtail the spread of Covid-19. Local Government and Development Planning MEC Anton Bredell says all planned events will be disallowed until further notice. There is also concern about infections spiking during the holiday period as the Southern Cape expects large numbers of visitors.

Bredell says this requires drastic action and they are not afraid to take. He adds that the provincial Disaster Management Centre is already enforcing regulations through roadblocks, blitzes and unannounced visits to high-risk areas to ensure there is Covid-19 compliance.
