Some Israeli lawmakers are calling for the trade-off for the treatment of Palestinian Liberation Organisation official, Saeb Erekat. The PLO’s Secretary-General is in critical condition in the coronavirus intensive care unit at an Israeli hospital in Al Quds. However, some Israelis are asking for Palestinian concessions in return for his treatment.
Member of the Knesset, Michal Cotler-Wunsh says that medical assistance for Erekat should be provided in exchange for three Israeli soldiers being held in Gaza. Earlier this year, Hamas said the Israeli captives held in Gaza since Tel Aviv’s 2014 war on the blockaded Palestinian enclave will not be released until a “real” agreement is reached on exchanging prisoners.
