The six Cape Fur seals that washed up on Kommetjie’s Long Beach were stabbed.

It’s suspected that the mammals drowned as a result of the trauma from their wounds.

Two of them were pregnant.

The seals were found on Wednesday, on the eve of World Oceans Day.

The City of Cape Town, Sea Search and the Cape of Good Hope SPCA have expressed their outrage at the incident. Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews says this is a horrific incident and should sadden all of us. He has called on anyone who witnessed anything related to the incident to report it to the SPCA.
