The City of Cape Town has rerouted water supply from the Mandalay pipeline to Strandfontein, San Remo and Bay View.

This as emergency repairs had to be conducted on a bulk water main at George Street, in Ottery.

While construction continues, several other areas are either without water, or are experiencing a trickling supply.

Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation, Councillor Zahid Badroodien has also advised the public to switch off their geysers when experiencing low water pressure, or no water, to avoid any damage.

Repairs to the water main were delayed because the Energy Directorate had to first remove and reroute a Medium Voltage cable that was in the same area as the repair area to ensure the safety of the construction team.

Badroodien has also apologised to the Muslims affected by the outages as it impacts their preparations for Eid-al-Adha.

Affected areas:

Pelican Park, Eagle Park, New Horizon, Peacock Close, Pelican Heights, Strandfontein, San Remo, Bay View, Phumlani, Zeekoevlei, Grassy Park, Lotus River, Schaapkraal, Ottery, Wetton, Knole Park, Retreat, Heathfield, Steenberg, Elfindale, Marina Da Gama, Lavender Hill, Seawinds, Vrygrond, Parkwood Estate, Fairways, Southfield, Plumstead, Wynberg, Muizenberg, Lakeside and Diep River.
