In the lead-up to international Quds Day, we turn our focus to a film that has garnered quite a bit of media attention over the last few months – Roadmap to Apartheid. The film which was initially barred from being aired at the Labia Theatre in Cape Town draws parallels between the oppressive Apartheid regime in South Africa and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Not only does the film encapsulate the similarities that people of colour faced during Apartheid, but how these same tactics are being used in modern-day to oppress Palestinians. Roadmap to Apartheid explores the lessons from the South African experience, and how it can benefit Palestine’s present-day conflict.
