Western Cape police are promising that it will be stepping up patrols on a section of Jakes Gerwel Drive between Langa and Bonteheuwel which is a known smash and grab hotspot. Speaking to Radio 786 the police’s spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says there are plans in the pipeline for neighbourhood watches to patrol the hotspot. During October there were over 60 of these crimes in the area.
