A 49-year-old man allegedly linked to setting alight a building at Parliament is set to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The Hawks say the suspect faces charges of housebreaking, theft, arson as well as charges under the National Key Point Act.

He was apparently caught with alleged stolen property within the parliamentary precinct.

The Hawks’ Crimes Against the State division is investigating the case as well as the motive.
