Instability at the Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) continues. Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande has dissolved the board and placed NSFAS under administration.

The higher education department says the decisions are part of interventions meant to improve the efficiency of NSFAS. Over the last year, NSFAS has been riddled with challenges, including allegations of corruption.

It also had numerous issues with its direct payment system, which was implemented in June last year. Minister Nzimande is expected to address the media on Sunday to explain the reasons for this type of intervention.
