North-West man beaten to death for stealing 20K from taverns

A 40-year-old man has been beaten to death for allegedly stealing a total of R20 000 from two tavern owners in the Taung, North-West.

According to police, the deceased was fetched from Lengageng and transported to Manthe on Friday, where he was chained to a generator and severely assaulted. He was then taken to the Manthe clinic to check if he was still alive.

However, he was declared dead on arrival.

Two suspects aged 23 and 31 years old have been arrested and will appear in the Taung Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Police are anticipating more arrests to be made and additional charges to be added.
