Lebanon’s Prime Minister Hassan Diab will soon be stepping down from his position. This, as Diab, announced his resignation almost a week after the devastating Beirut explosion that killed some 200 people and injured 6000.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun accepted Diab’s resignation yesterday and requested to stay on in a caretaker capacity until a new cabinet is formed. In a televised address, the Prime Minister said he has come to the conclusion that corruption in Lebanon is bigger than the state, and that he will be taking a step back so that he can stand with the people and fight the battle for change alongside them.
