The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness has officially opened the new Ravensmead Community Day Centre, aimed at improving access to healthcare services in the area.
The facility replaces the old Ravensmead clinic, which could no longer meet the growing healthcare needs of the community. The new centre is expected to serve around 6,800 patients every month. Built at a cost of more than R105 million, the facility offers a wider range of healthcare services under one roof.
These include emergency care, chronic disease management, HIV and TB services, mental health support, maternal and child healthcare, dental services and a pharmacy.
Western Cape Health and Wellness MEC Mireille Wenger says the facility has been designed with patient well-being at its core. The clinic will operate weekdays from 7am until 4:30pm.
