The National State of Disaster may be in place a little longer in South Africa.

Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele says that there is concern that another wave of Covid-19 infections may arise.

“There is a need for caution and to ensure no vacuum is left in terms of laws to manage the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Gungubele.

But Minister Gungubele says that President Cyril Ramaphosa will soon make the announcement on whether the national state of disaster would be extended by another month or terminated.

The President is also expected to announce new regulations that would contain the pandemic should another surge in infections and hospitalisations occur.
