Most Parties Still Fail to Disclose Funding Sources

SHARE

A total of 502 political parties haven’t disclosed their funders to the Independent Electoral Commission(IEC), with the EFF amongst the parties who flouted a requirement of the Political Party Funding Act.

Only three parties namely the ANC, DA, and ActionSA declared qualifying donations from donors.

Releasing the IEC’s quarterly report – the first since the Political Party Funding Act was established – IEC’s Chief Executive for Party Funding, George Mahlangu, noted that all funds generated through this platform will be treated the same as other donations, and that single contributions of R100 000 or more, must be declared to the commission.
