This, after Eskom has urged the public to reduce their electricity usage as the system is severely constrained.

The power utility says it suffered four generation breakdowns, with two other units struggling to return to service. A unit each at Matla and Kriel power stations, as well as two generating units at Camden Power Station suffered breakdowns.

The national grid is currently sitting on 4984MW planned maintenance, and more than 15 510MW of capacity unavailable.
