Questions are now being raised about the quality of the matric 2020 final exams results. Those who opposed the North Gauteng High Court’s decision to dismiss the Education Department’s ruling that two leaked papers will not be rewritten this week say that the integrity of this matric class has been put in doubt. Spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga says that employers and universities may be prejudiced against the 2020 matric class as the shadow of cheating hangs over their results.
He says that the Council of Education Ministers is assessing the High Court ruling, as it did not deal with the aspect of credibility, integrity and fairness of the 2020 National Senior Certificate examinations. An investigation by the Hawks is continuing and some arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, the National Professional Teachers’ Organisation says that the real assessment of the extent of the exam paper leaks is in the marking.
