It’s likely that President Cyril Ramaphosa will announce more Covid-19 hotspots in South Africa, which may lead to further restrictions. The President will address citizens this evening as the country deals with a sharp increase in Covid-19 cases.

He met with the Cabinet this weekend, to discuss how best to save lives while protecting the economy. The National Command and Presidential Coordinating Councils have also met as South Africa faces the difficult task of reducing infections that have been spread by human behaviour. Gauteng and the Western and Eastern Cape provinces have seen a marked increase in infections.
