A 39-year-old lawyer has been caught with drugs at the Bellville Regional Court.

It’s suspected the 200 mandrax tablets and tik with a total street value of R9 600 were meant for his client.

Police say a vigilant court orderly made the discovery after the lawyer was excused from court due to suspicion that he was intoxicated.

The Khayelitsha lawyer is expected to appear in the same court he was arrested.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
