The Health Ministry has warned that lockdown restrictions would need to be reviewed, following a record number of 14 046 cases of the coronavirus being recorded in the last 24-hours. More than 410 additional Covid-19 related deaths have also been recorded. The Western continues to lead with the highest daily recorded deaths, standing at 171 deaths.

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize sternly noted that the second wave is spreading much faster and will surpass the peak of the first wave in the coming days. All provinces except the Eastern Cape reported increases in Covid-19 cases.
