A 16-month-old child has lost her life after being trampled by a giraffe at a game farm in KwaZulu-Natal.

The child’s 25-year-old mother was injured in the attack. She is reported to be in a critical condition in hospital.

It’s unclear what sparked this rare attack by the world’s tallest mammal.

Police are investigating the incident.
