A total of six properties have been affected by gale force winds in Hanover Park this morning.

The roofs were blown off, while a further nine homes sustained extensive damage.

The affected properties are in Athry and Phillians Walks.

The City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements department says that three of the affected houses are council rental units.

Maintenance teams have been sent to assist the tenants.

Aid organisation, Gift of the Givers is providing relief to the affected families.

This as three people have sustained minor injuries. Some residents say that they had to dodge debris as they moved around the area.
