South Africa is set to administer the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine to 12-year-olds and teenagers.

Health Minister Joe Phaala announced that as of Wednesday they will open the vaccination process to those in the 12-17 years age group.

The minister says the health regulator, Sahpra approved Pfizer for this use. However only one dose will be administered at this stage. This as there are still concerns about the Pfizer vaccine for young people.

He indicates that the administering of the second dose will be informed by more information on the adverse side effect of myocarditis.
