It has been another deadly Friday in Afghanistan.

More than thirty people have been killed and over 40 others wounded in a terrorist attack on a mosque in the southern city of Kandahar. The explosion at the Fatemieh mosque took place during Jumuah prayers.

Interior ministry spokesperson Qari Sayed Khosti says they are saddened to learn about the attack on a mosque of the Shia brotherhood. He adds that Taliban’s special forces are on the scene to determine the nature of the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

It is the second deadly attack on a mosque in a space of a week.

Last Friday at least 50 people were killed and more than a hundred injured when a person detonated explosives inside a mosque in the northeastern city of Kunduz.

The terrorist group calling itself the so-called Islamic State in Khorasan Province, ISKP (ISIS-K) claimed responsibility for that bloodshed.
