A construction company, ABB South Africa has been given 14 days within which to repay the money it owes to Eskom. It follows an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit into a tender for control and implementation work at the Kusile Power Station, which was awarded to ABB South Africa. The tender was worth more R 2.2 billion, however, this price was much higher than the offer of another company for the same service. The SIU head, Advocate Andy Mothibi says that the investigations continue into further tender irregularities at the power utility. Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter says that this repayment agreement will help the utility as it tries to recover the costs.
